Challenging weather

he weather this year has made the work in the allotment quite challenging.  The various salads were spared by the slugs, the sweet peas worked for the first time ever (and filled our guests' rooms with their unique smell), none of the brassicas came out and the rhubarb harvest was quite poor. 

Thanks to kind friends, all the raspberries have been changed over to "Autumn Bliss" and I am still harvesting them for the house and breakfast. 

But the constant rain has let the weeds sprout continuously so the compost is well stacked !  Inverleith won once again the Allotment in Bloom award as well as the Best Allotment, but don't worry, I did nothing to contribute to that.

Save the Date !

On Wednesday 21st September 2011 the Stewart-Clarks are once again throwing open their marquee and are hosting the Dundas Castle Autumn Show just outside South Queensferry. Felicitas will once again man the stall with Beatrice von Tresckow and be selling the latests collection of this stunning designer who combines German tailoring with sumptuous Eastern colours and fabrics. 

There are plenty of stalls with all manner of quality goodies, so do come along and start your Christmas shopping !

Opening times are 10-16hrs and there is plenty of free parking !

Come and see the Stevenson House disguised as Aladdin's Cave! Beatrice von Tresckow (www.beatricevontresckow.com) will show her amazing fashion on the weekend 5th/6th December 2009 from 11am to 8pm at 17 Heriot Row.

Her latest collection of stunning silk velvet jackets and party ensembles will be on view as well as the opportunity to grab a bargain on the sale rail ! Seasonal refreshments will be offered and an opportunity to stock up on homebaking/preserves.
